Each Painting was created using either Acrylic/Oil/Aerosol on Canvas

Shogun Bushido Samurai...or Bushi for short...I created the first incarnation of my version in 2014 to represent the beginning of an evolution and maturation in my style of art as I began to take more time and care into the technical execution of my works...

Samurai are notoriously disciplined and elegant as far as their tactics and aesthetics are concerned...and these are the two key factors that led to me introducing the samurai character into the growing rotation of signature elements and subjects I use in my art...
“Bushido” comes from the code of honor that the Japanese samurai share amongst themselves...I depict my own codes throughout the three pieces: “Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performances”, “Self-Preservation Is The First Law Of Nature”, and “Grind Observance Disciple”...
Shogun in their time were appointed by Emperors and held almost absolute power over territories using their Samurai military...I adopt this title as part of the collection because I recognize that I have been appointed by a higher power to rule over my lane(s)...
THE EXECUTION:
All three pieces depict three different angles of the same combat position while using three distinct styles of art that I have learned through over 10-years of painting...
The colors are combinations of my signature pallet of Turquoise (fluidity and seamlessness), Red (passion and power), and Purple (royalty and balance). Each used in different variations of gloss/matte/metallic/color-shift to add depth to the works.
Tactically placed and positioned stripes are used as an accent to add direction or a sense of “movement” to each piece even though the subject is painted as standing still. The intent is to give a subtle three-dimensional effect...
